Let Calvados takes you to the coast this spring!
We opened Normandie in November of 2018 with the desire to bring coastal inspired PNW/French(ish) food in a local neighborhood bistro. As we’ve found our groove in the kitchen and with the Portland sun emerging from hibernation we’re excited to spring into a new bar menu.
Our bar menu is packed with small to large plates of our diner’s favorites as well as some new seasonal items all by Chef Heather Kintler. Our Five Hour Onion burger is French onion soup inspired and remains a staple at the bar with a glass of wine or fresh cockail. We also have lighter rotating seafood dishes like the Hamachi Crudo, as well as produce from local farmers like asparagus, radishes, turnips, pea shoots. Whether you’re visiting us for happy hour or late night at the bar we hope that you’ll discover a new favorite.
We’ve added new cocktails that range from light & refreshing to stirred & boozy created for both newbies and adventurous drinkers. Our menu features Calvados based cocktails that are perfect for patio weather and summer days. Calvados is an apple or pear brandy from the Normandy region of France and in our opinion it’s an underused ingredient in fresh cocktails. We’ve found that most guests haven’t tried Calvados before but when they do, they love it. It reminds us of drinking in France and picking apples in the Gorge.

Co-owners Heather Kintler, Judson Winquist, and Amanda Cannon Winquist worked together at Portland institution Veritable Quandary. After VQ’s closure Judson bartended at Laurelhurst Market, Amanda became the wine director at Q, and chef Kintler worked in the kitchen at both Side Yard Farm and Shalom Y’all. Together the team at Normandie hopes to bring their passion for food, cocktails, and hospitality to create a great dining experience for every guest.
